Arizona's Adopt a Highway Volunteer program began in 1988. Rose Mofford served as Arizona’s Governor. 100 organizations joined the program during the first two years after it launched and collected litter on 200 miles of freeway. Today over 1,100 volunteer groups are cleaning almost 2,000 miles of landscape along state highways, and more than ever Arizona needs you to keep this program going strong. Each segment is 1 mile. We will generally meet 7-8 am depending on the time of year. Clean up can vary 1-2 hours depending on the number of volunteers. The State provides vests and bags. I will provide disposable gloves, grabber sticks, water, gatorade type drink, and granola or cereal bars. I encourage participants to take take typical Arizona outdoor precautions (gloves, sunscreen, comfortable shoes, lip balm, hat, etc).

Thank you for participating in this…..we love this area and a couple hours of work a few times a year goes a long way.
